Recently, IEEE Communication Society has developed a strategic framework based on the principles that embrace Industry's interests and priorities while integrating IEEE and ComSoc's objectives. In order to engage industry members with high value and innovative technologies, IEEE Communication Society plans to hold a series of high impact one day Summits in emerging technology areas (e.g., SDN/NFV, 5G, IoT, Big Data, and Cybersecurity). IEEE Communications Society recently held a series of 5G Summits in North America. The First IEEE 5G Princeton Summit was held at Princeton University on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. It was the first one in the series. Princeton 5G summit was followed by Toronto 5G Summit on November 14, 2015 and Silicon Valley 5G Summit on November 16, 2015. There are now two upcoming 5G summits being planned in collaboration with local chapters, namely Patna 5G Summit scheduled to take place on March 29, 2016 at IIT Patna, India (First one in Asia), followed by Aalborg 5G Summit (First one in Europe)scheduled to take place at Aalborg University on July 1, 2016. Most recent IEEE 5G Summits include Austin, Dresden, Tianjin, Berlin, Seattle and Delhi. These one day summits will provide a platform for the industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment.
