Biography

Ashutosh Dutta is currently Senior Wireless Communication Systems Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Labs (JHU/APL). Most recently he served as Principal Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Labs in Middletown, New Jersey. His career, spanning more than 30 years, includes Director of Technology Security and Lead Member of Technical Staff at AT&T, CTO of Wireless at a Cybersecurity company NIKSUN, Inc., Senior Scientist in Telcordia Research, Director of Central Research Facility at Columbia University, adjunct faculty at NJIT, and Computer Engineer with TATA Motors. He has more than 90 conference and journal publications, three book chapters, and 30 issued patents. Ashutosh is co-author of the book, titled, “Mobility Protocols and Handover Optimization: Design, Evaluation and Application,” published by IEEE and John & Wiley that has recently been translated into Chinese Language. Ashutosh served as the chair for IEEE Princeton / Central Jersey Section, Industry Relation Chair for Region 1 and MGA, Pre-University Coordinator for IEEE MGA and vice chair of Education Society Chapter of PCJS. He co-founded the IEEE STEM conference (ISEC) and helped to implement EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) projects in several high schools. Ashutosh currently serves as the Director of Industry Outreach for IEEE Communications Society and is the founding co-chair for IEEE 5G initiative. He also serves as IEEE Communications Society’s Distinguished Lecturer for 2017-2018. Ashutosh serves as the general co-chair for the premier IEEE 5G World Forum. He was recipient of the prestigious 2009 IEEE MGA Leadership award and 2010 IEEE-USA professional leadership award. Ashutosh obtained his BS in Electrical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, India, MS in Computer Science from NJIT, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University under the supervision of Prof. Henning Schulzrinne. Ashutosh is a Senior member of IEEE and ACM.

Biography
Luiz A. DaSilva holds the personal chair of Telecommunications at Trinity College, where he is the Director of CONNECT, a telecommunications and networks research centre funded by the Science Foundation Ireland. Prior to joining TCD, Prof DaSilva was a tenured professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. His research focuses on distributed and adaptive resource management in wireless networks, and in particular radio resource sharing and the application of game theory to wireless networks. Prof DaSilva is a principal investigator on research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, the Science Foundation Ireland, and the European Commission under Horizon 2020. Prof DaSilva is an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer, and a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin. He is also a Fellow of the IEEE, for contributions to cognitive networks and to resource management in wireless networks.

Biography

Rui L. Aguiar received his degree in telecommunication engineering in 1990 and his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 2001 from the University of Aveiro. He is currently a Full Professor at the University of Aveiro, responsible for the networking area, and has been previously an adjunct professor at the INI, Carnegie Mellon University and a visiting Research Scholar at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, Brazil. He is coordinating a research line nationwide in Instituto de Telecomunicações, on the area of Networks and Multimedia. He is the current Chair of the steering board of the Networld2020 ETP, and an advisory for the Portuguese Communication Minister. His current research interests are centred on the implementation of advanced wireless networks and systems, with special emphasis on 5G networks and the Future Internet. He has more than 500 published papers in those areas, including standardization contributions to IEEE and IETF. He has served as technical and general chair of several conferences, from IEEE, ACM and IFIP, and is regularly invited for keynotes on 5G and Future Internet networks. He is senior member of IEEE, Portugal ComSoc Chapter Chair, and a member of ACM. He currently sits on the Advisory Board of several EU-projects and research units from several countries and on the editorial board of several journals.

Jean-Pierre Bienaimé has been Chairman of IREST (Economic and Social Research Institute on Telecommunications), a think tank of influence based in Paris, since 2015. Jean-Pierre has been Secretary General of the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA), representing the digital & telecommunications industry (operators, manufacturers, research and academic institutes, verticals, SMEs) in the Public-Private Partnership (5G PPP) with the European Commission, from 2016 until 2019. He has also been Chairman of the 5G PPP Steering Board. Jean-Pierre has been Chairman of mobile industry association The UMTS Forum from 2003 until 2016, with a mission to promote a common vision of the development of 3G UMTS and 4G LTE and evolutions, and to ensure their worldwide commercial success. Joining France Telecom (FT) in 1979, Bienaimé has had responsibilities including Director Planning Department at FT, Advisor to the Director General of Moroccan Telecommunications in Rabat, Director of Marketing and Product Development for International Networks & Services at FT, Chief Executive Officer of Nexus International, and Vice-President Group Mobile Support at Orange. From 2010 until 2016, Jean-Pierre has been Senior Vice-President at Orange Wholesale. Jean-Pierre is graduated from ESSEC Business School (Master in Management), from Sciences-Po Paris, from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Postes & Télécommunications – Paris, and from INSEAD Executive MBA.

Biography

Anastasius Gavras has more than 25 years of professional experience in academic and industry research. He joined Eurescom, the leading organisation for managing collaborative R&D in telecommunications, more than 18 years ago as programme manager, focusing on the areas of management of networks & systems, security and middleware. In these areas he has managed a large number of studies and projects on topics, which are of concern to the Eurescom member community of European telecom network operators and the European telecom industry at large. He has served as coordinator of several Research and Innovation projects under the European framework programmes and has experience in standardisation among others in OMG and ITU-T for which he has served as rapporteur. His current interests are large scale testbed for enabling experimentation in 5G infrastructure technologies and systems among others in the context of the 5G Public Private Partnership (5G-PPP) and Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE). He is interested in innovation on top of 5G infrastructures and Future Internet platforms and the evolution of the networks in general. He is or was steering board member of major European PPPs and initiatives such as 5G-PPP, FI-PPP and FIRE. He is currently the co-ordinator of the project reTHINK (https://rethink-project.eu) in the area of Future Internet Architectures and member of the management team of the 5G projects SLICENET and SELFNET. He is author or co-author of several papers, articles and books. He is member of the editorial board of the Eurescom mess@ge magazine and has authored several articles for the magazine, typically with a techno-socio-economic dimension.

Fábio Alencar is President of ABRASAT, Brazilian Association of Satellite Telecommunications Companies, and a member of the board of directors of SINDISAT, National Union of Satellite Telecommunications Companies. He is also Head of Corporate Development for Latin America at SES, acting from the SES office in Rio de Janeiro. He is graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering, has over 30 years of experience in satellite telecommunications. With a background in engineering, project management, sales, and business development areas of various companies, he led significant mobile and fixed satellite service projects for governments and private companies.

He is the executive manager at FITec for the “Agro Connect” BNDES IoT pilot project currently being implemented in Algar Farming´s Gaia Complex. He is graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and has over 30 years of experience in telecommunications and cloud applications. With a background in R&D, engineering, solution architecting, sales, and business development areas in several large companies in different countries. He is an Electrical Engineer from the University of Brasilia - UnB (2005), a postgraduate degree in Telecommunications Regulation from the National Telecommunications Institute - Inatel (2011) and Master in Electrical Engineering from the University of Brasilia - UnB (2013). He Has experience in Electromagnetic Theory, Numerical Methods for Electromagnetism, Microwave, Propagation, and Antennas. He is a Regulatory Specialist, and he has a public career at the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) since 2005 and for the last three years has the position of Advisor in Spectrum, Orbit, and Broadcasting Management.
