Recently, the IEEE Communication Society has developed a strategic framework based on the principles that embrace industry interests and priorities while integrating IEEE and ComSoc's objectives. In order to engage industry members with high value and innovative technologies, the IEEE Communication Society plans to hold a series of high impact one day Summits in emerging technology areas (e.g., SDN/NFV, 5G, IoT, Big Data, and Cybersecurity). The IEEE Communications Society recently held a series of 5G Summits in North America. The First IEEE 5G Princeton Summit was held at Princeton University on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. It was the first one in the series. The Princeton 5G summit was followed by the Toronto 5G Summit on November 14, 2015 and the Silicon Valley 5G Summit on November 16, 2015. Previous 5G summits were planned in collaboration with local chapters, namely the Patna 5G Summit that took place at IIT Patna, India (the first summit in Asia), followed by the Aalborg 5G Summit (first one in Europe) located at Aalborg University. Most recent IEEE 5G Summits include Austin, Dresden, Tianjin, Berlin, Seattle, and Delhi. These one day summits will provide a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from industry and the academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment.

Photos of the summit can be found here.
